Seat Functions Engineer Crewe Contract until 29/08/2025 Role Overview The role is for an expansion of Mechatronics Engineering resource within the Interior Engineering department for Seating Sub Teams. Main responsibilities: Technical responsibility for Vehicle Function process within Seating (Definition of electro-mechanical logic/functionality within the seat system) Technical definition of seating functions with first logical customer focused concepts modelled and demonstrated through physical properties Manage and generate new functional concepts Manage technical partners to deliver the Functional Safety Processes to ISO 26262 for each Seating function Collate and report functional status at each project gateway. Set requirements for the Architecture Team for project delivery Liaise with VW Group colleagues develop functions, define future requirements Keep up to date with legislative and technical development in Vehicle Seating Provide support to other non-Engineering functions within the business for Function related topics Preferred industries and experience background Automotive Industry: Preferred – Previous role defining new electrical/mechanical functions within OEM. Automotive Solution Architect. Alternative – experience in system development and software logic within a automotive design partner / supplier. Other Relevant Industry: Preferred – Knowledge of function definition techniques and software based logic modelling Electronics/Software background. Good communication skills written and verbal. Knowledge of vehicle communications/architecture (CAN&LIN, FlexRay) Software Modelling Techniques Coordination and organisation skills. Able to work independently to define customer functionality using good problem solving skills.
