Overall Job Purpose The Sustainability Lead will lead and support initiatives aimed at enhancing the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. This role is responsible for driving sustainable business practices across the European region, with a focus on reducing the environmental impact of operations, improving energy efficiency, managing waste, and ensuring compliance with European and sustainability regulations. The position also requires fostering a culture of sustainability by integrating sustainable practices into product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and corporate strategy across the organization. Major tasks&responsibilities Sustainability Strategy Development and Implementation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and monitor the company’s sustainability strategy in the European region. Ensure alignment with global and regional sustainability standards, including carbon reduction targets, energy efficiency, and waste management. Ensure alignment with environmental legislation Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability roadmap, outlining short and long term strategies to enhance organizational sustainability practices and reduce environmental impact and Propose initiatives that integrate sustainability into product lifecycle management, from R&D to commercialization Propose sustainability initiatives to be implemented by Sun Pharma offices throughout the region. Environmental Impact Management Oversee the tracking and reporting of environmental metrics such as carbon emissions, water usage, and waste generation. Implement programs to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing processes, supply chain, and packaging in line with current and future regulations Partner with R&D to promote green chemistry and eco-friendly product designs. Work closely with the Global Sun Pharma Sustainability team Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and sustainability regulations (e.g., ISO standards, GRI, SASB). Lead the preparation and submission of sustainability reports and ESG disclosures for the European region. Monitor emerging sustainability regulations and trends in the pharma sector to ensure ongoing compliance and innovation. Supply Chain Sustainability Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to develop and maintain sustainable sourcing policies. Work with suppliers to reduce their environmental footprint and adhere to the company’s sustainability criteria. Implement programs to enhance energy efficiency and minimize waste across the supply chain Collaborate with 3pl partners within individual markets in the Western European region to enhance the company’s sustainable approach to distribution. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, and regulatory bodies, to promote sustainability efforts and achievements. Lead sustainability training and awareness programs across the organization. Represent the company in sustainability forums, conferences, and industry initiatives. ESG Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain dashboards to track key sustainability metrics and KPIs. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in sustainability practices and propose innovative solutions. Support senior leadership in integrating sustainability into long-term corporate strategy and decision-making. Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience&Skills Mandatory Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. 3 years of experience in sustainability roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, manufacturing and/or logistics experience would be beneficial Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, environmental regulations, and sustainability reporting standards in Western Europe (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD, CRP (UK), GRI, CDP, SASB). Experience in managing sustainability initiatives in areas such as waste reduction, carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, and green supply chains. Open to travel (WEU, India and Romania)
