Job Description
As a Safety Support Engineer, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide safety assurance for complex defence projects. You will be responsible for identifying potential risks, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and contributing to the development of robust, fail-safe systems. Your work will directly impact the reliability and operational safety of advanced defence technologies. Key Responsibilities - Conduct safety assessments, hazard analysis, and risk evaluations for defence systems and components. - Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety cases, hazard logs, and compliance reports. - Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement safety features and mitigations throughout the system lifecycle. - Ensure systems comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, or MIL-STD-882). - Support the integration and testing phases, focusing on identifying and mitigating safety risks. - Monitor and assess safety performance during system operation and provide recommendations for improvements. - Work closely with stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and internal teams, to communicate safety strategies and findings. Essential Skills and Qualifications - Engineering Background: Degree in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related fields. - Safety Analysis Expertise: Experience with techniques such as FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, or similar. - Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with safety standards relevant to defence and aerospace industries. - Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve safety concerns effectively. - Communication Skills: Strong ability to document and present safety-related findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
