Starting Salary: Negotiable plus benefits To find out more about the job please click the ‘apply for job’ button to be taken to Imperial job site About the role We are looking for a part-time Research Technician to join the cardiovascular proteomics research group ( www.vascular-proteomics.com ), led by Professor Manuel Mayr at the newly established laboratory at the Sir Michael Uren Hub, Imperial White City Campus. Prof Mayr's group has extensive experience in proteomics and state-of-the art mass spectrometry equipment. Our research spans a variety of wet and dry lab activities. In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues to provide technical support across various areas, including histology, cell culture, sample preparation for mass spectrometry, and assistance with molecular and cell biology experiments. What you would be doing You will deliver high quality technical support and assist with laboratory research activities. Responsibilities include ensuring the smooth running of the lab by maintaining cleanliness and sustainability, producing sterile preparations, servicing and maintaining equipment, managing chemical and stock supplies and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures as directed by the department. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to scientific tasks that support experimental research, such as aseptic tissue and cell culture, and working with the mass spectrometry team. The remainder of your time will be spent supporting molecular and cellular biology experiments and participating in other projects and activities as required. What we are looking for You will be a motivated and independent team member who is eager to learn new things and help to drive excellent scientific research. Experience in application of functional and/or molecular analysis methods e.g. ELISA, Western blotting, dot blotting and cell culture, and processing of blood products such as plasma is essential. Cell transfections, knockdown and stable cell line establishment and maintenance, processing of cell products for downstream analyses Additionally, experience in sample preparation for Mass Spectrometry is also essential.
