Our client in London is a Collegiate University with a diverse estates portfolio. They are seeking an interim M&E Manager for up to 6 months with a view to extend. You will be responsible for the management of contractors, working with various members of the wider Estates and Facilities team to ensure H&S standards are understood and implemented. You will also be responsible for Statutory Compliance and Reporting – reviewing and ensuring the University, via it’s M&E Service Partner is fully compliance with its statutory obligations. Key responsibilities include: RAMS – review risk assessment and method of works statements submitted by Suppliers and Contractors. Permits to Work – undertake the role of Competent Person for technical matters including Hot Works, Working at Height, Confined Spaces, and Low Voltage systems isolation. Evaluate Quotations from Misc Suppliers – review technical solutions, feasibility, potential for disruption to university operations, prices and alternatives. Review quoted works from ME Service Partner – collaborate with FM staff to manage the Web Quote system to ensure the university receives a quality service with value for money. Schedule and oversee ongoing works (project oversight and governance) – engage with Service Providers, Campus Managers and Facilities Managers to schedule works to the estate that take into account ongoing academic activities. Review and sign off completed works – undertake technical assessments of completed works and ‘sign off’ documentation to enable invoice payments. Support Consultant ME staff with Major Project proposals – liaise and provide technical support to consultants and project managers across the university’s estate with a wide variety of ongoing and upcoming major projects. Assist in the preparation of ME budgets – assist in monthly reviews of ME expenditure across planned and reactive maintenance; support the preparation of budgets and latest estimates where necessary. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading M&E operations within a public sector estate, ideally higher education. You will have experience managing M&E Service Partners, ensuring a quality service and value for money. Relevant technical qualifications within mechanical / electrical building services are a necessity (e.g. HNC / HND). This interim assignment will be up to 6 months initially with a view to extend.
