We’re supporting a London based university to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join their Sustainability Research team. About the role: This is an excellent opportunity for an researcher to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. The role involves assisting with environmental fieldwork and testing across various projects. The successful candidate will contribute to both field and laboratory research, which may include supporting initiatives in Green Infrastructure and Sustainable Society or working on remote sensing techniques. Main duties: Support the team during fieldwork, ecological surveying, and monitoring activities, including the planning and preparation of activities Accessing monitoring locations, setting up equipment and sampling Record keeping and data collection, handling, and analysis Operation of various analytical equipment and environmental testing in the lab Collation of site information relating to the monitoring and corresponding process activities Writing technical and scientific reports. Cleaning, preparation, repair, calibration and maintenance of test equipment Maintaining stocks of consumable items Overseeing the lab health and safety and conducting/updating risk assessment documents Essential person specification: Degree in an area of Sustainability related to Ecology, Environmental Science or Chemistry related subject Practical experience working in an analytical laboratory Experience of ecological fieldwork and/or relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills UK Driving Licence Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in physically strenuous situations, and where manual handling of scientific equipment is require Job information: Salary: £38,000 Hours per week: 35 Contract length: 6 months Full time on site This vacancy will be actively shortlisted so early applications are encouraged.
