Pure Search are instructed on a rare and exciting IP Associate position with a TMT and Litigation angle. The Firm: Our client is widely recognised across Europe as one of the big players in the TMT market, with an enviable client list of global brands, tech and media companies, start-ups and household name clients. The IP team in particular have carved a niche for working with a number of leading sports, fashion, luxury brands, gaming and disruptive tech clients. They have an excellent track record of progressing associates through the ranks. We have been responsible for helping the firm hire from larger international and US firms and have seen them exposed to high levels of responsibility from day 1, scope to be involved with business development initiatives and client contact at an early stage. The Role: Working with clients across the TMT space, the role is in many respects more akin to an in-house role than a traditional private practice position, with lower billable target hours and a role where you are often acting as sole legal counsel to TMT clients with no internal legal function. The role will have a large focus on IP disputes, particularly contentious trade mark registry disputes, but will also touch on non-contentious soft IP matters such as domain names and advising on brand licensing, sponsorship, advertising and marketing issues for clients. About You: At least 4 years previous experience of contentious trade mark registry disputes (UKIPO and EUIPO) is essential Ideally existing exposure to TMT or luxury retail clients, particularly those in the media and tech industries Strong academic background including a minimum 2:1 at undergraduate level Interest in business development and thought leadership Our client will offer a clear and well-trodden path through to Senior Associate and Partner for the right individual, with a focus on the incoming hire being backed to develop their own client following from day 1, to sit alongside the flow of work already in place.
