This pivotal role will offer the opportunity to lead and manage a team of legal professionals while providing high-level strategic advice on complex commercial contracts and agreements. As the Legal Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and management of a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, licensing agreements, service level agreements, and joint ventures. You will play a key role in driving business objectives, ensuring legal compliance, and minimising risks for the organisation. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of legal professionals, providing guidance on complex legal issues and professional development. Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and management of a variety of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and legal best practices. Provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders, including on risk management, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure contract terms support business goals and mitigate legal risks. Manage high-value and complex contracts, ensuring adherence to governance procedures and best practices. Review and update internal policies and procedures in line with changing legislation and industry standards. Stay up to date with developments in commercial law, industry trends, and regulatory changes, ensuring the business remains compliant and competitive. Key Requirements: Qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong background in commercial contracts, with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience. Proven experience in managing and negotiating complex commercial agreements across a variety of sectors. Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop legal talent. In-depth knowledge of UK commercial law. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen and a practical approach to problem-solving. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
