The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety. We are now looking for two Explosives Permissioning Officers to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. If successful at the offer stage for this role, you will be offered the opportunity to enrol in a Level 7 apprenticeship in ordnance, munitions and explosives. Your vocational training will include a blend of classroom-based tutorials and workshops, practical work, and tailored on-the-job training where you will take ownership of a portfolio of work. The Role As an Explosives Permissioning Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring explosives-related industries across Great Britain operate safely and in compliance with national legislation. Working as part of our Chemicals, Explosives and Microbiological Hazards Division, you will support the licensing and classification of explosives for storage, manufacture and transport. Through site visits, collaboration with regulatory and industry bodies, and guidance to stakeholders, you will gather intelligence, make evidence-based decisions, and contribute to regulatory science and policy.
