Job Description Job Title: Data Engineer School/Unit: IT Services Location of Post: Scotland Working Arrangement: Hybrid 2-3 days a week in Office Working Hours: Full-time/36.25 hours per week Grade/Salary Range: Grade 7, £45,000- £55,000 per annum Main Purpose of Role: Manage and develop the Data Warehouse, including ETL processes, ensuring it meets technological and business needs. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Design and maintain ETL processes and Oracle SQL/PLSQL procedures. Resolve data issues and plan solutions with stakeholders. Gather data requirements and provide implementation plans. Recommend improvements for the Data Warehouse. Maintain tools like the data catalogue and train colleagues on data techniques. Document changes and participate in relevant committees. Build productive relationships with stakeholders and manage vendor relations. Undertake line management and deputise for line managers as needed. Person Specification Experience&Knowledge: Proven expertise in data warehouse management and ETL tools. Strong skills in SQL, PL/SQL, and database technologies. Experience with cloud-based data solutions and SaaS platforms. Familiarity with data security principles and GDPR compliance. Working knowledge of APIs, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy), and systems integration. Competencies&Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Effective time management and the ability to work independently and in teams. Experience in change management within an enterprise environment.
