One of UK's leading Universities is looking for a highly skilled Contracts Manager to join the Research and Innovation services team, on a contractual basis. Location: London (hybrid work available) Pay rate: up to £60 per hour (PAYE, Inside IR35) Duration: 6 month contract with possible of extension About the Role: This role involves representing our organisation in contractual negotiations for research-related activities and providing expert advice on contractual obligations, responsibilities, and risks. Key Responsibilities: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of research-related agreements, including funding agreements, research collaborations, sub-contracts, and more. Provide advice on rights, obligations, and risks associated with research activities. Ensure compliance with relevant domestic legislation. Collaborate with various departments to protect intellectual property and commercialisation rights. Use research management systems to track contract requests. Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational procedures and policies. Required Skills and Qualifications: Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as law or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Knowledge of key contract topics like intellectual property, confidentiality, and data protection. Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating research contracts or legal agreements. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to convey complex information to a non-specialist audience. Strong commercial and pragmatic contract negotiation skills. Ability to manage a large, complex workload and prioritise tasks effectively. Desirable Skills: Good working knowledge of research funding, support, and contracts within the Higher Education sector or a commercial research environment.
