THE COMPANY An online retailer with an entrepreneurial company culture. They are the opposite of corporate and their Buyers have true autonomy over their categories – you want to take a risk because you think it’s going to be big? You go for it. They’re growing the small domestic appliance range and have created a new role in the team for an additional Buyer. Be brave and entrepreneurial with the support of a fab manager who’s got your back. THE ROLE Completing sales analysis using market and customer insight data to inform buying decisions. Selecting and buying products that reflect the brand and fulfil customer needs. Managing the critical path. Taking ownership of the product lifecycle for your category. Recommending improvements to existing products to extend their lifecycle and managing the phase-out of underperforming SKUs. Defining the pricing and promotional strategy for the category. Managing the supply base, negotiating competitive pricing and terms. Collaborating with Supply Team to ensure POs are managed in line with forecasted demand. Collaborating with E-Commerce Team and on product photography and website content. Travelling for trade shows, comp shopping and supplier visits (UK, EU, Far East). ABOUT YOU This role would best suit a commercial/trading-led Buyer or Category Manager either already at this level or a Junior Buyer/Assistant Category Manager looking to step up. There is a small element of product development in the role, but it would be unfair to say there’s loads of NPD – it’s great product but there’s more of a focus on range building from supplier’s existing ranges and small changes to the colours/finishes of off-the-shelf product. A good fit for a Buyer who is trend-aware, but not too fussed on product development.
