Job Title: Action Against Public Authorities Solicitor Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience Location: Birmingham/London Job Type: Perm/Hybrid The Role: We are seeking an experienced solicitor to join the Claims Against Public Authorities and Inquest department. The successful candidate will have supervisory experience and be responsible for managing a varied caseload of inquest work, complaints against public authorities, and claimant litigation. The role involves conducting legal research, taking client and witness instructions, attending hearings, and assisting with an outsourcing project. You will also support other lawyers in the department and contribute to the expansion of the team. Key Responsibilities: Report to the Department Director Manage a mixed caseload, including inquest work and claimant litigation Supervise a small team and provide support to junior lawyers Handle client meetings, instructions, and correspondence Make CCMS applications to the LAA Negotiate with defendants, IOPC, and legal professionals Assist in department marketing, including social media Help expand the department Work towards KPIs and performance targets Key Skills Required: 3 years PQE in Civil Liberties/CAPA work Supervisory experience Experience with publicly funded cases (CW1/Legal Help, Licensed/Certificated Work) Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and judicial review applications Excellent research, analytical, and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Must meet LAA supervisor criteria for Legal Aid contracts If you’re committed to civil liberties and human rights, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
